HI!
Your Omaha Beach diorama is superb, I really like it and I hope I will make something similar soon as well. That's why I'm writing to you to be honest. I don't have such a modelling experience so quality won't be so good, however as I'm intereseted in WWII it won't make a big diffrence. I wanted to ask you how accuracy is your diorama compared to hitoric facts. I'm absolutetly obsessed about accuracy. I also have been thinking about scale, I have few vehicles already which I would like to use, landing crafts for example and they're all 1/72 scale so this is my choice - 1/72 scale. The only thing I'm still thinking is how am I going to squezee water, waterline, beach, cliffs and bunkers on one diorama? If I would like to make it scale accurate my diorama would have to be 10metres long. Do you know what I mean? From the bunkers to the sea there is about 600 metres... so you just cut the size, right? You made beach shorter etc., am I right?
Other thing is... did you make any research about what units, vehicles landed at this time? You mentioned on website that you spokoe to veterans, I'd like to hear little bit more about it if it's possible, I would be more than happy to hear the story :) Your diorama represents d-day at what time? I'm trying to find out on what times where high and low tide, and how high/low tide was close/away to/from shore. Maybe you could help me?

ik ben net in het modelbouwwereldje gestapt en heb erg veel bewondering voor uw dio. maar aangezien ik een groentje ben wil ik u een paar dingen vragen. ten eerste hoe maakt u dat water zo mooi en ten tweede waar hebt u die hedgehogs of hoe ze ook mogen heten vaandaan |

hi i was wondering what brand your hedgehogs(iron beach crosses) are because i am using: 2x pegesus soldiers 2xpegesus landing crafts and 1x italeria beach obsticals and the hedgehogs look kindof akward wereas yours looks really perfect. |

Good job and thanx for the tip with the silicon for the sea.
I plan do build a d-day dio as well and got also the Pegasus kit plus the landing sets from Dragon and some landing crafts from Airfix/Heller.
At the moment I am playing with some kits to warm up (Revell 1:76 -> former Matchbox, with some figures as small dios).
Since childhood until 1981 and a small trip at mid 90ths into modelling a Sherman M4A1 (planned for not finished Ardennen dio) and the horse drawn artilleries from Revell, I stopped to build model-kits. But now, since round about a year, the fever is back and my cellar overcrowded by sets, that must be build ....
And now, I see your dio!
I am on the right way/hobby.

I too am doing a model on the landing in Normandy and I'm playing fields WN 71 WN 72.
I do not know you but I used the pegasus soldiers, Italeri, rewell but are undecided on the bunker ... I do them or buy them?

I hope to finish soon and fartelo see so many compliments ..

Ik hou me ook bezich met de schaal 1/72 en heb ook al diverse dioramatjes gemaakt maar ik had een vraagje waar vond je die bouw doos van die glider die is nergens te vinden.

Ziet er fantastisch uit zoals je dat gedaan hebt petje af.
Ik was benieuwd welke landings voertuigen je gebruikt hebt, kan deze bijna niet vinden van welk merk zijn ze en waar heb je die vandaan?

Your D-Day diorama is fantastic, it has inspired me to attempt to build one myself.
I have found your website to be very informative and it has given me a lot of guidance to complete this project.
I have been building plastic models for many years, but have never tried to recreate the sea in model form.
You have used a silicone kit to do this, would you be able to give me more information about this.

ik vind uw diorama heel mooi, de beste die ik ooit heb gezien.
ik ben 14 jaar en ik probeer ook zo'n diorama te maken, ik heb alleen een paar vragen.
telkens als ik een diorama maak dan doe ik dat met papier mache maar dat ziet er niet geweldig uit.
hoe kan ik het beste van die heuvels maken? en als ik het dan verf en er gras op strooi word het ook niet geweldig, heeft u daar ook tips voor mij over?
ook ziet uw strand er geweldig uit (de krates ook) hoe maakt u dat zand ?

Hallo,
ik heb net je site dday-modelling.nl bekeken en
moet zeggen petje af. Vooral al je de close-up
foto's bekijkt ziet het er soms levensecht uit.
Het filmpje vind ik leuk gevonden, zeker hoe je
uit iets niet-bewegends de kijker de indruk van actie geeft.
Zelf ben ik heel geïnteresseerd in WO 2 en
voornamelijk Normandië. Dat laatste ook door een
aantal bezoeken aan Normandië in de laatste
jaren. Ik denk dat jouw diorama zich zeker meten
kan met die diorama's die in de museums daar te zien zijn, wellicht nog beter.
Alleen een vraagje. De eerste aanvalsgolf die op
Omaha beach landde was toch met eb, om zo de strandobstakels te vermijden?

Dank je voor het schrijven in mijn gastenboek. Toevallig heb ik jou site vorige week bij toeval eens gevonden en verbaasde me over het 'water' dat er zeer goed uit ziet. Ik lees dat je werk tot inspiratie wekt,... Het is dat ik de ruimte ontbeer, dan had ik ook diorama's gemaakt.
